Through a chance meeting with Klaus Riedel he was reassigned to Peenmuende, where he worked in the valve laboratory. After August 1943 he was assigned to the Flakversuchstelle, still working on rocketry projects. He went to Fort Bliss, then to Huntsville, with Von Braun's rocket team after World War II. He worked with them his entire life, until retiring from NASA in 1970.
